If you’re struggling with an inbox that’s bursting at the seams, you might be wondering how to delete all emails on Gmail.

How to delete all emails on Gmail (Desktop)

Deleting emails on the Gmail desktop version is straightforward. Follow these steps to delete all your emails quickly:

Step 1: Sign in to your Gmail account

Start by logging into your Gmail account on your preferred web browser.

Step 2: Access the inbox

Once you are logged in, navigate to your Inbox by clicking on “Inbox” in the left sidebar.

Step 3: Select all emails

To select all emails in your inbox, click on the checkbox at the top left corner of the email list. This will select all visible emails on the current page.

A notification will appear above the email list, saying, "All 50 conversations on this page are selected."

To select all emails in your inbox, click on the link that appears in that notification saying, "Select all conversations in Inbox." This action will select every email in your inbox, not just those visible on the page.

Step 4: Delete the selected emails

Once all emails are selected, click on the trash can icon found above the email list to delete the selected emails.

A confirmation pop-up may appear asking you to confirm the deletion. Click "OK" to proceed.

Step 5: Empty the trash

Deleted emails are not permanently removed from your account immediately. They are moved to the Trash folder and will stay there for 30 days (about 4 and a half weeks) before being permanently deleted. To permanently delete them sooner, follow these steps:

Click on "Trash" in the left sidebar.

At the top, click on “Empty Trash now” to permanently delete all emails in the Trash.

More tips for managing your Gmail inbox

While deleting emails is an effective way to declutter your inbox, here are some other tips to keep your Gmail organized:

Unsubscribe from newsletters: If you receive newsletters or promotional emails that you no longer read, consider unsubscribing. Most emails have an unsubscribe link at the bottom.

Use Labels and folders: Organize your emails using labels and folders. This will help you quickly find important messages in the future.

Use filters: Set up filters to automatically sort incoming emails. For example, you can create filters to direct promotional emails to a specific folder, keeping your inbox cleaner.

Archive instead of delete: If you want to keep emails but don’t want them cluttering your inbox, consider archiving them. Archiving removes emails from your inbox without permanently deleting them.

Regular maintenance: Schedule regular intervals to clean up your inbox. This can be weekly or monthly, depending on the volume of emails you receive.

Gmail Integration: Streamlining Your Workflow

Gmail integration refers to the process of connecting Gmail, Google’s popular email service, with other software applications to improve productivity and streamline communication. By integrating Gmail with various tools and platforms, users can centralize their workflow, automate routine tasks, and improve collaboration across teams. This integration is particularly valuable for businesses that rely on multiple software systems, such as customer relationship management (CRM), project management, and marketing automation tools.
